Amazing Baby!!

Wow, we are amazed!! Our little princess is sleeping through the night these days at a whopping 6 weeks. This week, she has gone 8 hours 3 times at night. We hope and pray that it will continue, and we are so proud of her. Mommy is thrilled to get some good solid sleep. Kaelyn is such a smart little girl. She is also laughing a ton these days. What a joy she is!! Thank you God for our precious daughter!

First Boat Ride

This weekend was Kaelyn's first venture out on the boat. She was such a trooper and slept through the whole thing. She even slept through getting that bulky life vest on. The outing was quite an adventure for Kevin and I though. Kevin had several people from work out with us plus a couple of our friends. As many well know, we have had some very strange weather around here lately and yes, it decided to storm on us. Not just rain, but storm. Fortunatly, Kevin had already dropped Kaelyn and I off on the shore when it all hit, but everyone spent a great deal of time bundled up in the cars before it all passed. One couple stayed out on the boat during the ordeal, whick turned out to be a great miracle for us. Reason being, the anchor did not hold on the boat, and they were able to drive the boat around during the storm to keep it off shore. After the storm passed, we cooked up some buffalo hot dogs and hamburgers. It cooled off pretty good, hence Kaelyn all bundled up in her stroller. She slept straight through that as well. So, that is her first adventure with mom and dad in the boat.

Grammy and Kaelyn

Diaper Rash

For those interested in details and a new parents discovery of a good trick. Our poor little girl has a very sensitive bum that has not tolerated commercial wippies very well. Not even pampers sensitive wipes. We have been using cloth wipes with water and occasionally huggies sensitive wipes (they are the only ones without alcohol). The other wipes caused sores as you wiped, no matter how careful I was. Needless to say, this whole parenting thing has so much to do with trial and error. So much to learn, and every kiddo is so different. Her poor rash kept getting worse, even with creams and changing often. We finally tried some cornstarch powder with zinc oxide, and it has worked wonders, on top of what you see in the pic (airing it out). We couldn't resist taking this cute pic. She was all covered up, but kicked her covers off. Brrr bum. Hopefully we are on the uphill. Things are looking so much better.

Meeting Colton

Last Wednesday, we got together with our friends, and got to hang out with Kaelyn's new buddy Colton. He is the new son of our friends Greg and Heather. He is 2 1/2 weeks younger than Kaelyn. They have some fun years ahead of them. We all, along with our friends Nate and Lisa ventured out to Red Robin for dinner. Right now it isn't too hard to head out with the little ones cause they sleep so much. It is just timing that we have to be creative with. We had to make sure and head out before it was time for the cute munchkins to wake up and want their dinner. It all worked out perfect. Friends are wonderful and it is a blessing to still be able to hang out with them, kids and all. These little guys have some great adopted aunts and uncles now.

1 Month Appointment

Kaelyn had her 1 month appointment on Friday and boy is she growing. She weighed in at 10 lbs 13 oz and is now 21 1/2 inches. She gained a total of 3 lbs and 2 oz and 1 in since we left the hospital. Aside from growth, we are dealing with some gastrointestinal issues. She has reflux and a cranky tummy, but we are starting to get some things under control with gripe water. I had never heard of this remedy before, but it has worked wonders. I am also happy that we can take a route other then medication. Gripe water is just some herbs. We had researched it before we went to the dr. and I almost didn't want to mention it to him cause I thought he would be upset. Actually, he was very pleased and told me how he would like us to use it. Yeah!! I like our dr. He is very thorough and cares very much. We feel blessed to have him.

4 weeks old

Time is flying, but we are sure enjoying it. I can't believe that tomorrow our little munchkin will be 4 weeks old. She gets more beautiful and fun everyday though, so we are happy. Kevin came back from his training on Sunday and was amazed at how much bigger she was. It all happens so fast. Yes, we did survive him being gone, but what a wonderful thing to have daddy back in the house. Kaelyn has been doing great and is already handling a schedule very well. What a blessing to us to have things be somewhat predictable now.
Kaelyn loves to go on car rides and watches out the window until her eyes can't stay open anymore. When she is awake she can definitly tell when the car is moving and when it is stopped. She much prefers it moving.
We actually caught a smile on camera the other day. Yeah!! She smiles a lot, but most often as she is falling into a very nice sleep. Occassionally they seem to be in response to an emotion. We hope that you all enjoy the pictures. We certainly love taking them, and I seem to have a new favorite everyday.

2 weeks

Well, sorry we are being pokey on the updates. We have had family in town and been just a little bit busy. So, here goes. Little Miss Kaelyn is too precious for words. She amazes us everyday. We have been so blessed with her sleep patterns and good temperment (thus far). She is a bit cranky in the evenings, but once she is asleep for the night, she just wakes up to feed and is back down to sleep. Way to go girl!! She has been on several big adventures thus far and is a real trooper. Her parents are a bit crazy for sure. She has gone to a beautiful wedding, a birthday party, church, a graduation, and even the zoo. The puppy dogs are very curious about her, but are good with her. Kaelyn just got to meet her Grandma Jody and Aunt Theresa, who came down and spent the week with us. Also, my girls discipleship group came and visited. Things have been pretty busy. This week is going to be a lot more laid back, yet a little rough as well cause daddy has to go away for the week for army training. It is amazing how much they change even in that short of a time. But yeah, it is Kevin's last annual training with the army. Kaelyn seems to be pretty strong for her age. I layed her on her tummy the other day in her crib, and came back a little bit later and found her in a completely different place. I am not quite ready for that kind of movement at this age. One pic shows her turned sideways in her bed. She also hold her head up pretty well at times. We are amazed. Enjoy the pics. There should be plenty more coming this week as well.
